Tell us a bit about yourself!
I am a mother, an artist and I try very hard to be a compassionate communicator. Andy and I do conflict transformation work together (although Andy is doing more of that now that we have Dylan our son) and I like avocados, compassion and messy hair! :0) - Our website for conflict transformation can be found here; www.masonlaporte.org
What is your experience with NVC?
I started learning NVC in 2005 while living in Sri Lanka. I worked as a teacher in a junior school teaching Drama, Art & Music to children between the ages of 2.5 - 12. I tried hard to bring NVC to the school, but it wasn't always easy. Andy and I went on an IIT in Albuquerque in 2007 with Marshall, Jim & Jori Manske, Robert Gonzalez, John Kinyon and a few other inspirational NVC facilitators. In the UK I have done several training sessions with Gina Lawrie. More importantly, Andy and I live NVC every day with each other and with our son. Conflict & pain, joy and fun all get processed with NVC and possibly everything we do and encounter gets viewed through the NVC lens (at least once, ha ha!). oxoxo

Hi Tamara - i just signed up to this site and this group.  I work with parents (and with other adults) in various ways - in a nutshell supporting people to say yes to the experiences of being alive as embodied presence, and to unravel what's in the way when that's difficult.  I often draw on NVC principles, though I've never trained in it (yet) - just absorbed the NVC handbook.  I am holding the Family work at Embercombe (www.embercombe.co.uk) and working to develop support for families there - and part of that is wanting to bring NVC closer in. I also draw on Hand in Hand Parenting (www.handinhandparenting.org) a lot - do you know their work? It grew out of Re-evaluation co-counselling.  We hosted their first UK presentation at Embercombe in June this year which was great - and I'm hoping to get them back again soon.  Would you be interested?  All the best for now - Joanna

Thank you so much for the kind reply. I really hope to oneday do an NVC workshop. Maybe some of us from this forum can meet and learn more about NVC. I have studied restorative justice, they are actually beginning to use this in schools which is good.

So where do you use NVC in your life then? and does it help you?
