Parenting & NVC

This is a group for people interested in NVC and Parenting and is facilitated by Tamara Laporte who has been practising NVC since 2005 and currently facilitates a family NVC practice group in Brighton.

"I gave birth to a baby boy in August 2009 (Dylan) and feel very passionate about bringing him up with NVC consciousness. I enjoy connecting with other NVC parents and hope that in this group we can talk about the joys and difficulties that giraffe parenting can bring to a family."

Here are some useful youtube clips on NVC & parenting;

I noticed that my previous entry in this group is public on the net...Are all entries public or is there a way of making them private?

 thanks for sharing your joy nicholas! :) have you seen this? -> http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/peacemeal/201010/3-steps-transf... - it may be something else to try with your kids.

sounds like you're really happy to have tried a different method! must be meeting quite a few needs for you (and I bet for the kids too). x

hi guys, this is a very interesting article called: " 3 Steps that Transform Sibling Conflict into Sibling Camaraderie" it's based on Dominic Barter's Restorative Justice circles; read it here;

Hi,
I just signed in after quite a long time and see that there are some old and new posts. I feel sad that I don't seem to have enough time in my life to connect fully with all the on-line groups that I would like to, and happy that I am here now.
NVC Books that I have found useful are: Respectful Parents Respectful Kids, Hart and Kindle, Raising Children Compassionately, Marshall Rosenberg, Parenting from the Heart, Inbal Kashtan. Also The Science of Parenting Margot Sunderland, The Complete Secrets of Happy Children Biddulph Raising Boys B, Raisiiddulph and How to Talk so Kids will Listen and Listen so Kids will Talk FAber and Mazlish. I have many listed on my website www.tracyseedassociates.co.uk. and a parenting programme which I am delivering in Bromley Kent during March and in London Borough of Kensington during May. I have two daughters which I raised on my own as a single parent and each of them have children..so grandchildren aged 9, 6 and 3years...I have also worked with children and families for the past 27 years..doesn't mean know anymore really, just lots of experiences and practice and still practicing NVC and sometimes really celebrating this in my family and sometimes struggling! I am very happy to be part of the group....

I haven't attended any training yet but do intend to at some point. There are some trainers and opportunities here in Bristol so will get round to this

yes, it's not that easy doing it with toddlers, mostly as they're non-verbal. :-) have you been on a foundation training yet? there are several good books out there on nvc & parenting but I highly recommend a course with any of the trainers as well! :)) oooh, i shudder at rewards charts! yes alfie also wrote a book called 'punished by rewards' which supported by a full body of research too. x
